Jim Corbett is open all year, but the zones rotate with the seasons – and that rotation, not the weather, decides your trip. For sightings, November to February is the classic window (thin bush, animals near water, all zones open from mid-November). April-June is the hot, underrated window: tigers congregate at waterholes. July-mid October the core zones shut for the monsoon and only Jhirna and Dhela run.
The zones, month by month
| Zone | Open | Closed |
|---|---|---|
| Dhikala (flagship) | ~mid-November to ~mid-June | Monsoon (~mid-June to mid-November) |
| Bijrani | ~mid-October to 30 June | ~1 July to mid-October |
| Jhirna | Year-round | – |
| Dhela | Year-round | – |
The windows compared
| Window | What you get | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| November-February | All zones open; best sightings; cold mornings | The classic window |
| March-April | Warm, dry; good visibility | Strong shoulder |
| May-June | Hot (35-40°C+); waterhole action | Underrated for photographers |
| July-mid October | Monsoon; only Jhirna and Dhela | For green-season diehards |
Good to know
- Permits: book per zone and date; Dhikala sells out months ahead (safari zones guide).
- Where to stay: Dhikala forest rest house is the in-park experience; Ramnagar is the practical base (Corbett guide).
- Pair the months: see November and February for the wider state picture.
