November is the quiet, crystalline month. The Char Dham temples close in the second week (in 2026: Gangotri around Diwali on 10-11 November, Yamunotri and Kedarnath on Bhai Dooj, 11 November, Badrinath around the 13th), the Valley of Flowers has shut, Corbett becomes complete again when Dhikala reopens mid-month – and the mountain views are the sharpest they will be all year. After Diwali, prices fall and the hills belong to travellers.
Weather in November
| Band | Daytime | Nights | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plains | 12-25°C | 7-11°C | Dry, pleasant |
| Mid-hills (~2,000 m) | 9-16°C | 1-5°C | Frosty mornings; first shivers |
| High Himalaya (2,800 m+) | 0-8°C | -6 to -2°C | Winter setting in up top |
What is open and closed in November
- Char Dham: open for the first days, then closing – 2026 closings ran 10-13 November (verify each year).
- Valley of Flowers: closed since 31 October.
- Jim Corbett: Dhikala reopens ~mid-November – from then on, every zone is open (zones).
- Rafting: open, big-water season (season).
Best for
- Mountain panoramas without the crowds: Binsar, Mukteshwar, Kausani
- The complete Corbett: Jim Corbett
- Post-Diwali value everywhere (cost guide)
Think twice if
- You plan a yatra after the closing dates – the temples are physically shut until late April.
- You are unprepared for how fast the cold arrives at 2,000 m+ after sunset.
