June is the month of two extremes: the plains’ worst heat (regularly 40°C+) and the hills’ fullest access – and on 1 June, the Valley of Flowers opens its season. The first half of June is the last dry, reliable window before the monsoon arrives in the state’s second half; the Char Dham runs at peak crowds.

What is open and closed in June
- Valley of Flowers: opens 1 June – early season means snowmelt, green meadows and very few flowers; peak bloom comes in July-August (trek guide).
- Char Dham: open – the busiest, hottest walking month on the yatra.
- Rafting: open until roughly late June, when operators shut for the monsoon (season details).
- Jim Corbett: Bijrani open until ~1 July; Dhikala closes ~mid-June; Jhirna and Dhela run year-round (zones).
Best for
- Solitude at the Valley of Flowers before the bloom crowds: plan the June trek
- Last dry-window high trips: Joshimath – Auli corridor
- River trips before the shutters: Rishikesh
Think twice if
- Your trip crosses 20 June without buffer days – monsoon onset is imminent.
- You expect flowers in the valley in the first week – June is green, not floral.
Events and dates
Summer holidays continue; the monsoon typically reaches Uttarakhand in the last ten days of June – exactly when rafting winds down and the state turns green.
