Munsiyari is the far-east Kumaon frontier – a ~2,200 m town in the Johar valley staring straight up the Panchachuli massif, roughly 560 km and 14+ hours from Delhi. The distance is the filter: almost nobody comes here, which is exactly why the people who do keep coming back. It is the base for the Khaliya Top trek and the old trans-Himalayan trade routes.
