Binsar is a sanctuary you sleep inside – 2,420 m of oak and rhododendron forest in the Kumaon Himalaya, protected as a wildlife sanctuary since 1988, with leopards, 200+ bird species and the Zero Point ridge that frames the Greater Himalaya. There is almost no “town” here – just forest rest houses, a handful of resorts, and walking trails.

Best time and practicalities
March–June and October–November; winter brings frost and birds, monsoon brings mist (skip if the view is the point). Carry cash; connectivity is patchy (practical guide).
